Renee Schreiner

Renee Schreiner

Business & Human Resources Manager

Renee joined Athens Veterinary Service in February of 2004. She started out working at the front office with administrative duties.  Renee enjoyed very much getting to know our wonderful clientele from our dairy producers, equine to small animals and not to mention the amazing animals!  Working as an office manager assistant for many years, gave her the ability to move into management roles as an Office Manager to taking over the Business Management/HR role following Jeannie’s retirement after working 35 years!  Renee is actively involved in some of the Athens community services such as a member of the financial board with her church and has been a member of the Athens Sno-Pak for several years. She has been involved with North Central Technical College’s Vet Tech Program by being part of their advisory committee. When not working, Renee likes to go snowmobiling, camping, fishing, and traveling with her family.

Deana Parker

Office Manager & Human Resources

Deana came to AVS in February of 2026. She grew up on a farm in Colby and still resides in the area with her husband, Scott. They have three married children and six grandchildren. Deana enjoys spending time with family, friends, and 4-legged animals out on the trails in their woods.

Lori Ann, CVT

Ordering Manager

Lori Ann started her career in the veterinary industry in 1987 as a Certified Veterinary Technician and has been part of our team since November 2003. While maintaining her CVT certification, Lori Ann also now works as our Ordering Manager and oversees inventory.

While not at work she enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and 6 grandchildren. Her and her husband, Rob, have always had a small farm and while it has taken on various forms throughout the years, including milking dairy, beef, and heifer raising, they now have a smaller herd of beef cattle, 2 horses, pigs, and barn kitties.

Mindy, CVT

Mindy, CVT

Mindy started with Athens Veterinary Service in December of 2020. She studied at Northcentral Technical College in their Veterinary Assistant Program. Mindy furthered her career with becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician in July of 2021. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her fur babies.

Brittany, CVT

Brittany, CVT

Brittany began working at Athens Vet Service as a vet assistant in 2022. She studied Veterinary Nursing at Purdue University and became a CVT in April of 2024. She has 3 dogs named Ghost, Maci and Zoey. She also has a cat named Cactus. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, fishing, four-wheeling and hiking with her dogs.

Taylor Crass

Taylor, CVT

Taylor grew up in Medford where her family raised various kinds of animals over the years including beef cattle, pigs, chickens, and even horses for a while. After she graduated from high school, she went on to be a real estate agent for a few years. Soon after, Taylor attended NTC to obtain her Veterinary Technician license. She joined us in April of 2026.

In her free time, she loves being outdoors and spending time with family, friends, and her golden retriever, Koeden. 

Koral

 Koral, CVT

Koral is from Loyal, Wisconsin and started with us in November of 2025. She used to work at a horse stable which increased her interest in the veterinary field. She went on to study to be a Certified Vet Tech at Northcentral Technical College and graduated in 2025. She especially loves working with our large dog patients. Koral also has a dog of her own named Winston, a boxer.

Amber, VA

Amber W., Veterinary Assistant

Amber joined Athens Veterinary Service in 2017. She has a daughter named Amara. She also has several pets, including Duke and her tomcat Tom is Amara’s favorite. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family. Amber was born and raised in Athens, where she continues to reside.

 Carli, Veterinary Assistant

Carli is from Medford and started at AVS in January of 2022 as a youth apprentice. From there, she left to go to school at Fox Valley Tech to be a Certified Vet Tech and is transferring to NTC to be closer to her family. "I grew up on a farm and animals have always been my passion!" She lives with her husband, Cody, and her fur babies. Her pets include one mini Aussie (Ella), 2 cats (Harper and Trooper), and 2 Nigerian dwarf goats.

Liz Vet Assistant

Liz, Veterinary Assistant

Liz started at Athens Vet Service in September of 2022. She has 1 dog and 3 horses. Liz's love for animals led her to a career as a large animal vet assistant. In her free time, she is learning to rope and work cattle with her horses. She also enjoys spending time with her 3 sisters and going to her family cabin in Arkansas to hog hunt and fish.

 Melanie, Veterinary Assistant

Melanie has been in the veterinary field since 2015 as a veterinary assistant. She started in Colorado in 2015, moved back to Wisconsin in 2019 and worked at Lodi Vet, and then moved to Medford and joined us at AVS in 2023. She worked as a groomer from 2012-2015 and then switched to medicine to help patients with no voice. She has a son, Deryk, and has two Shiba Inus: Bandito and Frito Lee, and a cat named Yeti. She LOVES being outside doing activities such as hiking, camping, snowshoeing, and kayaking. 

Alisha, VA

Alisha, Veterinary Assistant

Alisha has been in the veterinary field since 2018 and started at Athens Vet Service in July of 2024.  Her and her husband, Jon, live in Marathon with their labrador retriever, Roxie. In her free time, she loves hunting, fishing, hiking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Lily Ann

Lily Ann, Veterinary Assistant

Lily Ann grew up in Lena, WI and moved to Wausau in August of 2025. She started at NTC in the Fall of 2025 doing prerequisites for the Vet Tech program. She worked at a stable for 4 years before joining us here in March of 2026. Lily Ann loves taking care of animals and being their voice. Pictured with her is her dog Dash.

Kendra, Veterinary Assistant

Kendra grew up in Amery, Wisconsin. She started working with horses after high school and realized working with horses was what she wanted to do. Kendra has graduated from NTC from the Vet Tech program. She was with us for a short time a few years ago and rejoined us in February of 2026.

She got married in September of 2024. She has 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 1 horse. In her free time she loves horseback riding, hanging with friends, and being outside. 

Shelley, Lab Assistant

Shelley, Lead Laboratory Assistant

Shelley started her career at Athens Vet in April of 2018 and now serves as our Lead Lab Assistant. She grew up on her family's dairy farm and is no stranger to helping with all kinds of animals. She and her husband, Joe, enjoy their own hobby and beef farm. 

Maddy

Maddy, Lab Assistant & Veterinary Service Representative

Maddy joined the Athens Veterinary Service in September of 2022 as a Veterinary Service Representative. She now splits her time and works in the lab in addition to the front desk. She is originally from Stevens Point but moved to the Stetsonville area to attend college and be with her husband. Maddy has two Labrador retrievers and one tabby cat. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, yoga, and knitting.

Anita

Anita, Administrative Assistant

Anita joined the Athens Veterinary Service in the summer of 2020. She lives in Abbotsford with her husband, Bruce. Anita has two adult children and her newest, a grandchild. She works as an Administrative Assistant to both Office and Business Manager as well as a back up to the front desk as a receptionist. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, fishing, gardening, and bowling.

Amber joined Athens Veterinary Service in July of 2024. She is from Medford and lives there with her husband, Mike, and their two children. They have a variety of pets including water salamanders, a bearded dragon, two Boston terriers, Bentley & Noelle, and three cats, Luna, Smokey, & Rocket. In her free time, Amber enjoys reading and crafting. As a family, they enjoy camping, fishing, gardening, and spending time together during game nights. She went to school for working in a medical office. "I love working with animals and I have since I was a kid."

Mariah

Mariah joined Athens Veterinary Service in April of 2025. Her family includes her mother, father, and two younger brothers. She has two dogs: Remi, a red heeler, and Paisley, a husky/golden retriever mix. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors, throwing darts, and reading. Mariah was born and raised in Wausau, where she continues to reside.

Rob, Handy Man

Rob, Handy Man

Rob is no stranger when it comes to working at the Athens Veterinary Service. He started around 2011 helping in our maintenance department during a vacancy period and came back as our lead maintenance in 2021 until his partial retirement in January 2026. He also is married to our Ordering Manager, Lori Ann, and has been part of our vet family for many years. Rob spends his time working in the woods as well as on the farm. He enjoys working in his wood shop, running a small family maple syrup operation, and being a grandpa to his 6 grandchildren.

 Clare, Social Media Manager

Clare was born and raised in the Rib Lake/Medford area on her family’s small dairy farm and now resides in Colby with her husband, Kris, two step-sons, and a daughter that she just welcomed in December of 2025. She started with the clinic in January 2026 but has been around the clinic since she was a year-and-a-half old as that is when her mom, Lori Ann, our Ordering Manager, started at the clinic as a CVT.

“Animals have always been a part of my life growing up on the farm, and so I have grown a deep love and appreciation for them. I am honored to now officially be a part of the clinic work family, and I love that I can work with such a wonderful business and staff while also being able to stay home with my daughter.”

Katie is Dr. Tom's daughter who comes in a few days a week to help us around the clinic! She helps with stocking, cleaning and other odds and ends around the clinic!
