Ultrasound

Portable ultrasound machines allow our doctors to look at the internal structures and organs of the animals on the farm.  It is a wonderful diagnostic aid to confirm and aid in many diagnoses. Its primary use is aiding in pregnancy diagnosis and to monitor ovarian structures.  It can be used to detect uterine problems, assess fetal viability, and to monitor for early embryonic death.  Fetal sexing and detection for twins can help the producer make more informed decisions for management and culling.  Other uses for ultrasound are to assess abnormal swelling or masses, check herniations for complication, and visualize diseased organs or body cavities.
